The Tenere has flown through it's MOT, has a new rear-tyre and has been serviced. It's ready to go.
Dino's Transalp on the other hand has had a few issues and is still in the garage after almost a month! As well as the inevitable raft of worn-out consumable items, his suspension linkage was totally siezed and the bike is still waiting on the parts to put it back together before it can be MOT'd. The garage assures us that it'll be ready next week....
We spent all of 10 minutes discussing a route out to Romania: -
- Day 1 - Swindon to Kassel in Germany (563 miles)
- Day 2 - Kassel to Nysa in Poland (428 miles)
- Day 3 - Nysa to Nowy Sacz in Poland (218 miles)
- Day 4 - Nowy Sacz to Sapanta in Romania, via Slovakia and Hungary (255 miles)
We've also got as far as booking the ferry (Dover - Dunkirk).
The idea was that we'd travel via Southern Poland on the way out and spend a night at my friend's mother's house. This would mix things up a bit and mean that should we choose not to go beyond Romania, we can take the obvious route back home via Hungary and Austria.
May have to re-think this as my friend's mother is now in the UK and may not be able to get back out there before we arrive. Not an issue, I'm sure that we can find somewhere nice to camp in Southern Poland and roughly stick to the new route.
Dino and I are getting together over the weekend to sort our kit, arrange breakdown insurance and hopefully avoid any more last minute panic.....
